How a UHF RFID gate works

  1. A passive UHF tag (windscreen sticker or hard tag) is fixed to each approved vehicle.
  2. The reader at the gate sends a UHF signal across its read zone.
  3. As the vehicle approaches, the tag returns its unique ID to the reader.
  4. The reader passes the ID to the access controller or software over Wiegand, RS232, RS485 or TCP/IP.
  5. Approved IDs open the boom barrier automatically, and every read is stored with date and time.

Readers can run alongside an ANPR camera for dual verification, and with boom barriers, bollards or flap gates for complete entry control.

UHF RFID reader in Kolkata: frequently asked questions

Does TimeWatch supply and install UHF RFID readers in Kolkata?

Yes. TimeWatch supplies UHF RFID readers, tags and complete vehicle access systems in Kolkata, covering Salt Lake, Sector V, New Town, Rajarhat, Park Street, Howrah, Liluah, Dankuni, Taratala, Garden Reach and Haldia. Installation and after sales support are coordinated from our New Delhi headquarters.

Which UHF reader is best for a factory or warehouse gate in Kolkata?

For a single lane gate up to 5 metres wide the TW-UR6 or TW-UR6000 is enough. For wider or multi lane truck gates choose the TW-UR8000, which reads up to 16 m. For yards, ports or toll style lanes choose the TW-UR710, which reads up to 30 m and approx 950 tags per second.

Which industrial areas in Kolkata use UHF RFID vehicle access?

Demand is strongest in Salt Lake Sector V and New Town, Howrah and Liluah, Dankuni, Kolkata Port and Haldia, where sites need fast, logged entry for staff vehicles and trucks.

What is the read range of a UHF RFID reader?

TimeWatch readers cover up to 5 m (TW-UR6, TW-UR6000), 12 m (TW-UR12), 16 m (TW-UR8000) and 30 m (TW-UR710). Actual range depends on the tag, mounting position and site conditions.

What frequency do UHF RFID readers use in India?

UHF RFID in India uses the 865 to 867 MHz band. TimeWatch readers read EPC Class 1 Gen 2 (ISO 18000-6C) tags, and selected models also support 902 to 928 MHz for export projects.

Can a UHF reader connect to my existing boom barrier and access control?

Yes. The reader outputs the tag ID over Wiegand, RS232, RS485 or TCP/IP depending on the model, so it connects to standard access controllers, boom barrier controllers and parking or yard software.

What is the difference between UHF RFID and ANPR?

UHF RFID reads a tag fixed to the vehicle and works in rain, dust and low light. ANPR reads the number plate with a camera and needs no tag. Many sites use both together for dual verification.

How much does a UHF RFID system cost in Kolkata?

Cost depends on read range, number of lanes, tag type and whether you need barriers and software. Share your gate details and our team will send a quotation for your site.
